So I got my site to the 2nd page on yahoo and bing

but for some reason I'm still on the 7th page of google.

Is there something different about google than the other search engines?

www.coastallc.com

What else can I do to improve my ranking besides adding more content and images?

Also, I've read about H1 tags? and adding ALT tags? to your images to improve your ranking but I really don't understand. Can someone explain these to me?

H1 tags tell computers whats important on a page; Same with ALT tags, they let computers know what the image is (they don't have eyes after all.)

I don't know if you know code or are using a WYSIWYG editor (drag n drop, frontpage, dreamweaver, etc) but most of those programs are pretty straight forward about how to add them. Usually just an option after right clicking the image.

Google has a lot of parameters to satisfy in order to be page one. Unique content, Metatags, fresh content, a blog (very helpful). I'll see if I can find the link for Google's criteria to help optimize your site.

Moz and Google both have Beginner's SEO guides. They're a highly recommended read. And, if you don't yet have one, sign up for a Google Webmaster Tools account and submit your sitemap and links, as well as see what they recommend for your site.

That's the link to Google's Webmaster Guidelines.

What about my domain name? Would it make a big difference if I incorporated key words like maybe lawn-care-city.com?

The domain name wouldn't affect your organic search results much if at all. An easy to remember name is best, which yours pretty much is. If it made you feel better than you can change it but I imagine current customers and referrals would just search for your company name anyways.

The biggest thing is the actual content and code. Google is a much different beast than the other search engines. It can be picky but is consistent and reliable once you figure it out.

Have you noticed the text under your company name is hard to fully read? If your centered the text instead of having it justified left the problem would be fixed.

I'm guessing if you do irrigation and pest control you have two licenses. I would put your license number and links to any industry associations you are members of. It looks like as far as expert content or links to other trade professionals that help you rate higher you are missing out.

i tried it, it worked for most of the domains i bought, and not for some. I built separate sites for the other domains so i didn't duplicate my main site. It ended up being worth it for me, i got 3 that rank on the first page for different cities and i get alot of calls off those 3 sites as well as my main site. It would seem that the ones i was able to get lawncare<city><state abreviation>.com did the best. for domains that i couldn't get that exact match domain, i would get a domain with the business name in front, and that didn't work to good at all. I also built subpages for other cities and they didn't do as good.
