Lawn Pro Equipment and Projects Thread
Well.. like some others, here's a thread that will be randomly updated with pictures of equipment, projects, work, etc. Here's the only pic I have at the moment, the "leaf sucker from hell", made out of an old sidewalk vac. It shakes, knocks, spits gas, and is all around scary. The tube from the loader to the box is missing, by the way, but it actually worked really well, and I crammed 1200 lbs of leaves in the truck.

thanks for the comments..
I like the lettering too, except the logo got buried and doesn't stand out as much as the letting on the back. oh well. i'll see if I can find a brand on the loader. Like mowerboy said, it's homemade. It was a vacuum. And.. I suppose 1200 pounds is a little too much, though.. I've hauled more. I've been getting 2400lb pallets of salt loaded into my new F150. It handles it no problem. To be honest, that white truck was supposed to last one year for me then I was going to get another, but it's on its 4th year and pulling strong. I know it's not real smart, but I've hauled 4 or 5 times what it's supposed to on a trailer. Tractors, trailers full of scrap iron, 8000 lbs of crushed concrete.. it just wont die. And, it's a light -duty truck with a V6!! As for unloading, I've only filled it once, and we (two of us) unloaded it by hand in about 15 minutes, with a rake and a blower. Chris, what are your secrets? Last edited by M and S Lawn Care; 11-26-2008 at 06:49 PM. |

So that loader used to be a vacuum and you pretty much hooked a hose onto the end?

more or less, yes. It was more like a billy goat debris vac, wheels, a bag, a big wide sucker on front.
chopped everything off, and just used the engine and impeller/housing. then welded a hitch-mount for it, and stole the hose off out Bobcat bagger. I need to get some longer hose!! Most vacs I've seen have 4 blade impellers, and this has 6. It seems to mulch and suck really well. It sucked as fast as i could get leaves to it, even with its small size. |

I have Timbrens for the white truck, but it's so rusty that I cant get the old ones off, and there's fuel and brake lines in the way of a grinder. Once I'm definitely done with the truck and leaves I'll take it apart and make it right.
I'm still planning on cleaning up more leaves, even with the snow on the ground. It'll melt. I, along with a lot of other companies in the area, still have a lot of leaves to clean up. The snow came before they dropped. Grrrrrrrrr. |
