I too would push hard to get rid of the 5 oaks in the bed. First of all, they are only scrub oaks. NOt worth nothing at all. I would put a Magnolia tree there or another Ligustrum tree.
It looks like there is also an oak tree growing through the Ligustrum tree in right front.
I do like the Ixora grouping in the front corner by the drive way.
I also would have pushed to yank out all the older bushes. To me it old mixed with new.
But overall its a good first start.

Great job. 100 times better. For such an over grown landscaping they shure had beautiful lawn.
