blade

Anyone notice my homemade brackets inside my box?

Yes, they are used edger blades, I welded flat washers to them and sprayed them black, so that box would have to be broken in a hundred places to blow out......

Also this box has removable trays on top, I pop riveted them to keep them in place....

Yes yes, noticed the edger blades! Was coming down to comment but you couldn't wait for someone to notice

Tool box looks like it will work. Over time it will probably deteriate in the sun, and the first time someone uses it as a step to get into the truck or trailer it may not fare to well. Sure not going to fall off on its own!

My trailer has the same dumb brace on the tounge like yours So I just use the tounge for a place to store shovels and a rake. I put a side-body L shaped box on the top rail over the wheelwell of my trailer. Lots more room...

sun

Your right, I'm sure the Texas sun will be the death of it, I'll wait for a metal box to go on sale at HF and jump on it.

I have the concept down, so it sould go smooth on a replacement.....my little HF welder has come in handy, I also had to weld the crank handle, it was getting loose, so I added some tacks and sprayed it black......

Fail

Okay folks, update on my so called "project".......we had a pretty good rain storm yesterday with temps reaching the freezing mark.....and a decent rain this morning.....

Opened up my box to find a inch of water.....WTF....it was dripping down where the handle is moulded into the box......

I took it off and found an ammo box that fits perfect, plus its weather tight, I might have to modify something to make it lock, but not to worried about it....

Ammo box looks better than the plastic one...

Lesson learned, don't use plastic boxes for extreme use...

Whenever you get that finished, post some updated pics. I'd like to see it.

Okay, went out with a tape:

18'' long
6''wide
9.5'' high/tall

Fits perfect between the crank, and the extra brace...

Nice man. It looks great. You should be good to go with that setup.
