Used to run a Unimog in the service. I really hated that machine. They attached a bucket up front and backhoe in the back which folded down on the back of the vehicle. It was simply to many things to go wrong. They just needed to use rubber tired backhoes because you couldn't really apply the speed benefit it had. The straight truck chassis might be a better vehicle but I doubt it.

Different over here though, it all small winding roads from the old horse drawn days so you guys with those massive rigs just couldn't get anywhere day to day.

Few ppl have f150 or rams and they can't park them in the big shops etc all spaces to small

Our nissan navaras 175bhp does 110mph cruises all day in 6th gear at 80mph doing 18000rpm

Getting 32mpg, our road diesel is £1.25 a litres!!!!!! Can't afford to run those 6ltr diesels

The land rover is 20 years old hence why it's a basher will go anywhere, my sister has a range rover and mum has the awesome v10 diesel vw toureag

Unimogs are awesome 1000 newtons of torque portal frame axles, pto fro and back proper tool carrier and will pull 20,000kg on or off road 55mph

Have a look at this our special forces use them in Afghanistan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9tPxNyhLp8

Hey Giles how do you like the dumper? Sometimes I can see a clear benefit of using one but most of the time it seems like a skid steer would be more useful?

One of my neighbours who I worked for had a old Landrover pickup it was in the 1960s it was a collectors item. The old guy sold it, the thing ran after sitting for 15-20 years.

I do have laugh the USA has some of the cheapest cost for fuel just in Washington State they pay 3.39 for a gallon of diesel fuel. Here 4.29 a gallon for diesel and it has come down in price it was up to 4.41 a gallon.

I think if it was socially acceptable, down in the USA people would still be driving cars that are a foot ball field long with a big honking gas guzzling V8.

I wish we could get a manual Touareg over here...

Is there a U.S version of the Navara? My god, it's stupid that there are different names of cars for Europe, Oz and the Americas...
