Yes, but IMO steel toes wreck your feet. Less comfortable too.

Well, there have been many instances at which I'm glad i had steel inside. i chainsaw slashed part of my shoe on my right foot where my bid toe is, and also handling 100 pound logs at some jobs.

Thats why I like the Lehighs with the TS-100 steel toe. They surpass the ANSI rating and have lots of wiggle room. Too many near misses in my life means I will not step foot on any job without my Lehigh's!

I have tried a lot of brands and have been disappointed in just as many. I stick with Red wing or Hermans for work boots and a lightweight Timberland for kickin' around. My grandfather bought me a shoe kit back in the '70s and I still have the original horse hair brush from that kit. He taught me to take care of the leather in only way...good oil. Here's what he taught me.

- Warm the oven up to it's lowest setting
- Put your boots on a pan and stick them in the oven for 5 minutes
to let the pores open in the leather
- Pull the boots out and rub them down good and hard with mink oil
- Let them dry (pores close trapping oil) and then brush off excess with
horsehair brush

In the winter I use sno-seal which works pretty good too. Many of you may already know this but maybe it will help someone. Even with the waterproof liners of today the leather still needs to conditioned in order to last.

I've got a pair of Timberlands that I'm mostly happy with, but I've found that the soles get damaged easily if you stomp on a shovel. They're fine for mowing, but I'd guess someone who does a lot of shrub installation would probably wreck them in a few weeks.

I used to keep a revolving set of old sneakers for working in wet ground, since a revolving set of boots would have eaten up my whole paycheck. I'd wear my boots whenever they were dry enough, which would sometimes be every second or third day.

Geat Boots if you dont like high tops.(for really cruddy work i use timberland pro series with the rubber toe) but these cabelas ones have them beat hands down for comfortability they have plenty of wigel room and the hiker boots like this come wide for comfort (so im told) these were on clerance at cabelas last week for 25 bucks and there great!!!
