Contracts

Hi Guys,
Should I get my residential customers to sign a "contract" or "agreement" and if so what should be in it? Is there laws as to what you put in it? If anyone has a sample they could share with me that would be great... I won't copy it, I just need a guidline.
Thanks

Just cover specifics on late fees and your NJ is up to 18% annual and cover 2 prices if you allow bi - weekly or as needed vs weekly rates and your method of billing say all invoices go out on 1st of month due no later than 15th.Thats what mine say but some I dont require a contract Because we have a personal relationship and dont want to insult them also they prepay cash and just give a reciept with note prepaid for X amount of services.

Good luck its tough in jersey right now er=sp in S Jersey by me

also let it be knowned that if they feel for any reason the work does NOT need doing at any time they have to inform you "call" 48 hrs in advance or they will be charged.

and that ANY party can cancel this contract with a 10 day notice for any reason.

I don't use them with all my customer you kind of get a feel for good people after a few years. Most people are not going to try and rip off the lawn guy but you never know. If I have some late payer's I put them on agreements and realtor's I all ways use agreements.
