Andrew keep me in the loop as well as far as this Haiti venture goes.

Also I haven't been myself but i know some people who have spent some time in Haiti and have said it can be a scary and sometimes violent place.

Craaaig- will do. I'm going to see what happens with the meetings this week.

I've heard from many as well how violent Haiti is. It's not going to get better in the foreseeable future either. Just something else to plan for.

Will do Steve. I just sent an email to the individual in that article I linked to several posts ago as he is sending equipment down there. I'll see what he says he can use for assistance.

In terms of getting started, I got started through my own personal savings and a $12K contribution from my family. $5K of the 12K was used as working capital and $7K was used as a down payment on my first F450. Since then, all my expansion has been funded through hard work and good connections. I pay 20% or more down on all my large equipment (if I don't buy something like an attachment outright) and the rest is financed through the equipment manufacturer's captive finance arms, allowing me to keep a cash in the bank to cover unexpected expenses and slow periods.

I've loved heavy equipment all my life and I told myself at a young age I would find a way to work with it the rest of my life. So everything that has happened has been a combination of faith, perserverance, a supportive family, good luck, and plain old hard work. I didn't inherit a company and I was only given access to a modest investment (at least in the world of heavy equipment) which has been turned into what you see today. It is because of what I have been blessed with that I feel a burning need to give back to others. I'm excited to see what the future holds.
ARP-I am landscaping now but I plan to make money on it and then expand into doing lot clearing and excavating and have a crew run the landscaping portion of it. I am 19 years old and have grown up around construction equipment. It is something I am going to work hard towards. I have looked at your whole thread and you are a great inspiration. How old are you?

Thanks jgibbons. Some of my first jobs were landscaping related. I mowed lawns in my neighborhood since I was 10 or so.

I'm turning 22 now.

I have so far, but that can always change, just like everything else. It's always a constant battle to keeping networking to keep the work coming in.
