You mean the T282?

A lot of people have 242s and generally like them apart from the flimsy choke lever.

Spend the extra cash and get the 282. We have ran the 242's for 2 1/2 seasons, with at least putting 30 hours a week on each unit. Only replaced one head that was worn out over many of my employees. But the 282 is even better, longer shaf for taller people and better reach. Plus more power. Our stihl models were ok, but now we only use their chainsaws. Shindy blowers are more powerful than ANY other one we have tried as well. We run the 8510 and the 802 models. Hope this helps

I bought a new t242x last week and so far Im loving it. The speed feed head alone is worth buying shindaiwa. If you havent seen the speed feed head then go to the shindaiwa web site and watch the video. I love that thing cause i can change the line in 30 to 45 seconds. Try that with a regular head. I used the T282 this week and its a nice trimmer also but its going to be heavy for what your wanting to do. Its lighter than the stihl in a comparable size engine but still to heavy for light trimming. Go get a shindaiwa T242 and thank everybody that recomended them later because you will be well pleased.

Yeah it's got the longer shaft. The 230 and 242 have a total length of 68" and the 282 / 3410 are 3" longer.

I'm 6'4 and would prefer an even further 3" on my trimmer.

You're 13? Is that a typo?

Has anyone been having issues with the air valve needing to me adjusted on the T242? I have had this problem twice now and a dealer told me that he quit selling that model cause of the Carb was to bad on them.
