Who uses an F250 LD / F150 7700?

I have used an F-150 7700 for the last 3 years and it has been a great truck. It constantly impresses me as what it can do. I just got back from a 3000 mile trip to Florida towing a 26.5' Crownline boat that weighed in at 7,400lbs. It was easy going and the truck barely knew it was back there. Anyone else use a F-150 7700 or F250LD?

I've seen a couple around here...

Probably the beefiest half ton ever made with 7 lugs and a 7700GVWR ..not bad.

Nice truck.

Very nice truck there! Yeh theyre hard to find, cuz know one wants to get rid of them around here.

I just bought a '98 F250LD this past December and I love it. I have pulled a Bobcat 763 behind it and it barely noticed it. Stopping was good too with the brake controller. Only problems I have had is the cracked exhaust manifold, other than that its been a great truck so far.

i dont know anything about them. i always thought to myself i that i wouldnt want the one and only year an F250 looked like an f150. what makes them so nice? ive seen a few for sale cheap. a 98 with like 100k miles and a plow for $5000

The F-150 has basically the F-250 drivetrain from the front fenders back.

- 7 Lug Rims, not sure why?
- They have a larger frame then the F150 (same gauge as the F-250)
- 13.5" rotors (SVT Lightning front and rear calipers)
- 3:73 or 4:10 rear end from factory
- 4R100 Tranny
- Extra leaf springs in back
- Larger Torsion bars
- Heavier towing capacity
- Weigh more
- HD shocks
- power steering cooler
- 4700 lbs rear axle (sterling 10.75)
- HD rad, thicker
- HD alternator
- the tranny is the same as a F250 SD and the F350 SD
- Snow plow prep package standard
- 8,600 lbs towing
- 13,500 lbs or 15,000 lbs GCWR depending on gear ratio.
- 7,700 lbs payload
- The ride is a ton better than the solid axle F-250

In 1999 Ford offered them as the only 3/4 ton truck in their lineup. They are great trucks and can keep up with most any other 3/4 ton gassers.

you mean 98. 99 already had the superduty.

What's so good about these trucks? Its basically a superduty with an F150 body? My friend has one looks like a turd to me and I have nothing against Fords. So they are basically overbuilt 1/2 tons like the old chevy 1500hd?

I guess nobody read my first post.

the F150 7700 was a limited edition F150 that was much beefier than the normal f-150's. a normal f150's GVWR is around 6600# the 7700 is just that...7700#'s. so it was rated to tow and haul much more weight. It also has 7 lugs as opposed to the normal 5 or 6 on 150's. Superduties have 8.

So yes, basically a HD-f150, but not quite a 250 superduty...
