What year did eXmark switch over from belt to hydro??

hey guys, quick question!

I've been looking at some exmark Zero Turn Riders, and noticed in the listings, they say that they are belt driven. I sort of remember like how toro bought out exmark and became partnering companies, and then exmark started using hydros, or toro stole exmarks hydro idea...or something like that.

So what year is the cut-off for the belt driven exmark ZTR??? I just want to know, cause i might be buying a used one.

Thanks

I was not aware that exmark or toro ever built a belt driven ztr.

You may be seeing that the pumps are belt driven, and the pumps then in turn use hydraulic pressure to spin the wheel motors.

Exmark has made hydro AND belt/gear driven mowers for a long time. Exmark still offers a model:

The same is true for Toro. Here is their current belt/gear driven model:

http://www.toro.com/professional/lce...ear/index.html

Hydro and belt/gear driven walk-behind mowers have been part of the product lineup for both lines for a long time, and are still available. How much the belt/gear driven mowers are part of their sales, ... I don't know. I doubt they sell very many.

He is asking about a early zero turn rider that had belts instead of hydros. I dont think he is refering to a walkbehind. I have never heard of or seen one.

Even though the poster said that he was looking for "riders", it sounds like the "listings" he is reading about are talking about "belt drive ZTRs" (yes, even a walkbehind can be called a ZTR).
