I would go with a 310. It's closer to a pro saw.

The 361 will probably not cut any better than the 310.
The 455 is a decent saw.I have the older model the Rancher 55. I will say that if you start cutting alot neither of the saws have enough power. |

I have 361 and a 310 and the 361 will cut a lot better. Pound for pound probably one of rhe best saws out there. A Husky 365 is also a good choice. I like the 361 with a 24" bar. 310 want run a 24" as well.

Thats because the 361 is a pro saw, the 310 is an occasional use saw, but once I get more work and start cutting alot more I'll buy a 361 but for now the 310 will do what I need it to do..
and the 310 isnt spec'd for anything bigger than a 20in but it may run a bigger one..

I'd assume the 361 will cut more because it is a bigger saw, when you look at it compared to the 310, the 361 looks like a 440 compared to 310..

The MS310 is heavier and not as much power than the 361. MS280 is a good saw also. My 361 has a hand warmer also.

They both have a 59cc engine with 4.4bhp.
Basically the same saw but one is heavier built for professional use. |

310 is 4.0 bhp 13 lbs. 361 is 4.4 bhp 12.3 lbs. 361 has decompression and heated handle.

I can't read when it is raining.LOL
I prefer a more powerful saw.I have used that size stihl(361) and they are great but lately I have been in larger trees and I wish I had a more powerful saw. |

Yes the rain is awful. Getting stuck regularly. Making a mess being impatient. I have a Husky 268 and it is my favorite but I felled a huge pine on it. I replaced it with a Ms361. Have had nothing but good things out of it. Only thing is choking it, it will flood verrrryyyy easy.
