Not sure what that has to do with what the OP was asking. The questions weren't directed to you or tree or about sustainability.

You know how sometimes threads used to get out of hand because a synthetic vs organic argument would break out? That's basically what happened here except it was an organic fertilizer vs sustainable approach.

You people on the extreme left or extreme right of any issue always seem to want to annoy the majority of us in the middle. There doesn't always have to be an agenda, people like Kiril don't need to try and beat their ideals into others heads. This was a simple question that got out of hand and it probably was never really answered.

Use the most readily available sustainable ammendment whether it be compost or meals of some form or a mix of both. Water when needs and mow accordingly and HIGH, then be aware of your lawns biology and you should have a fantastic turf.

Of course, someone, somewhere will try to convince you that the practice of collecting massive amounts of pond scum is in & of itself damaging to some type of insect, fish or fauna growing along the water's edge.

But really, when you drill down deeply into the REAL truth of it behind this, it's really not about sustainability.
Many of them are probably deep-down jealous as all get-out that others can be making decent profit spreading meals in a fraction of the time it takes to topdress, even with today's efficient compost machines.
