Switching from liquid asphalt to, water based

hello, i have paying out my ass for liquid asphalt $6 a gallon down in hamilton, ontario i have a 400 gallon set up i have been spraying liquid asphalt for the last 2 years, and i was wondering if i empty out my tank and put water based, blackmac, will it destroy my pump casue my set up is use to liquid asphalt? , anyone know a cheaper place in ontario to get liquid asphalt

Usually the pumps that are on those machines are way too small to pump sealer.
What you are using is very light.

Keep in mind something.

Real blacktop sealer will not go nearly as far as you are used to using the colorant. Plus it is a totally different business.

You need a tank with agitation.

And though you are going to pay less for real sealer, your material cost per job will go up, so your pricing will need to go up too.

THat's the same stuff, as in Hamilton. Need to go to Port Coulborn for BlackMac ( or Toronto, Barrie )

Blackmac is an oil based sealer.. if you have an oil (gear) pump then you are ok..

I wont go to that place again, I dont like putting people/places down but when I started out I went there and my machine started working like crap after a couple driveways. Well after alot of time wasted trying to find the problem it ended up being a piece of rubber stuck and was stopping flow. Im not bashing them, they probably got it that way but I rather drive the extra way now to get blackmac.

Same here, use to use them, long ago, but got tired of pulling limbs and twigs out of the strainer, . Wish they had Black Mac, they are 10 Min's away, whereas now I travel a few hours to get the good stuff, but still worth it.
