Florida Mowing/clean-ups

Question for Florida Cutting....

IS this the amount of times per month you would have to cut a lawn in Central Fl.?

Jan. Feb. Mar. Apr. May. Jun. Jul. Aug. Sept. Oct. Nov. Dec
1......1.....2......4......4....4......4.....4.....4.....3.....2.......1

And when would you start fall/Spring Clean-ups?

Anything differently or add into a Clean up in Central Florida?

Thanks in Advance.....

42

Here in north florida I cut monthly service 42 times a year. Mid March to mid october every week for 30-32 weeks depending on the weather then 20 weeks in the winter go to every other week. Works good for me charge the same year round so making good money in the winter as well and get 10 weeks vacation. Got to watch out for people that might dump you going into winter, but pretty good at feeling them out right away. Then I just charge them per cut which I charge more for.

cleanups

Start cleanups anytime really, but mostly after the last freeze or real cold temps. I start getting calls in Jan and Feb from maintance customers wanting to add plants, mulch or whatever just because they know we will be busy. They usually dont end until just before thanksgiving, everyone wants to look nice for the holidays.

Thanks for the info.....

Are you charging a per cut charge each month x4 or are you doing a monthly charge only? From what I read you are charging a monthly charge.

The way we do it is # of cuts in year around 42 x cut price $30 = yearly total ( $1260 ) then divide that by 12 for our monthly rate= $105 per month.

i have all monthly except 2 who only want cut twice/month in the summer and the winter is a different story. Those 2 are on a per cut basis. I would stick with monthly, everything averages out in the long run. When someone is on a per cut basis in the winter time things can get sticky. Especially when we get those cold snaps where you can go every 3 weeks b/t cuts and way longer if were talking Bahia. You lose out on a lot of money that way.

Good advice here.

Most of my accounts are monthly and I get same in winter as I do in summer. Only reason I have a few per cuts are for the people who dont want many cuts in the winter but I charge them more per cut then I would if they were a monthly service. All my full service (trimming bushes and weeding) are all monthly. Monthly is the way to go unless they dont keep you in winter.
