which trimmer?

I want a light commercial string trimmer for my home, I would use it for edging.

I'am considering the Maruyama BCL2250. It has their LET230 engine. It seems to be very light and well balanced.

I was also considering the Echo 211 (carb), it is noticeably heavier that the Maruyama and a bit top heavy.

I have also looked at Stihl, but don't care for their homeowner units and their commercial units are pricey.

Looked at Kawi KBL23A seemed well balanced and light.

The Maruyama, Echo and Kawi are all priced at $239 or less.

Also looked at Shindaiwa Homepro 22T, nice unit $219.

One other I was considering is the Husky 322L, very light only 8.8#'s, cost $259.

I would appreciate any advice. Thanks Don

Just my .02 worth:

Even though the Echo is heavier, it has more power than the other trimmers I have tried. If you are going to use it for edging (which I don't recommend) then the extra power may be useful. I also suggest you get an edger. If you want the best edges, use an edger. This latter point has been the topic of much controversy so I expect some differing points of view to appear on this one.

Shindaiwa T270. Best mix of power to weight.

I love my Shindaiwa T270, but it's a bit heavy for what you want, check out the T230 which weighs in at 10.2 pounds without the head. My 270 weighs 12.3 without the head.
Just remember to take out the spark arrestor screen!

the Husky 322L is a great trimmer, light but powerful, you won't regret getting the Husky.

The Husky 325L is very powerful and light. It weighs less than 10lbs. I use mine for edging and it about ripped the trimmer from my hands the first time I edged with it. Great trimmer.

Echo SRM 2100. I'm a homeowner too and LOVE it. It's everything you'll need for what you're going to use it for....
