For snow plowing get a 2500 or 3500. A 2500 should be adequate. Also, if you're going to use it for plowing, get a regular cab, not extended. Because the combined weight of an extended cab + plow on the front end will produce rapid wear of the front suspension components. Really all three brands have good engines, gas or diesel, but there are big differences in fuel economy. A Diesel will tend to do better on fuel with towing, but they do have maintenance costs (with the exeption of the Ford 7.3L Powerstroke, and the 12-valve Dodge Cummins). Gassers are highly dependable.

Please do a search. This question gets asked weekly.

Also, when you ask, details really help. This is why different sizes, shapes and capacities of truck are offered. It's the use that is more important than things like brand, personal taste, etc.

what kind of plowing do you do? residential driveways long, short, narrow wide? narrow streets? wide open parking lots?

what kind of plow are you putting on it? a lightweight meyer straight blade or a heavy azz blizzard power plow or boss v-blade?

what will you be towing? how many ztr's, length/weight of the trailer etc...

all these questions will help narrow down your search, although the 3/4-1 ton trucks of the big three are all adequate at what they do, i will say this, the chevy/gmc's have the best turning radius.

we own chevy's, ford and dodge.
