They are stocked at the factory and in some warehouse's depending on how popular they are in a particular region.
As to freight, distributors set how many a dealer orders to get free freight.

Wait. What? We're just talking regular Super Z's here, right? The HT is still not available with the 28 Kohler, correct?

I'm guessing your distributor is in Mankato, MN which is a 6 hr drive by google maps. You could save the freight maybe by picking it up if it could be arranged (don't know if they would let you). I took a tour there during the off season and it's a neat place to see.

The 28 EFI still isn't available in the HT version, sorry.
