Ya rear us a little light. If that starts to hapen I just use the I match ang go grab my box blade real quick. They also sell a ballast box that is I match compatible. My rear tires are filled with fluid also so that helps out a lot. It never loses traction but you can definitly feel the rear end is much lighter. I guess you could use the 4 wheel drive if you lost traction from a heavy load

Getting yourself a load leveling system for your truck and trailer would be effective against draggin the leg and be a whole lot cheaper than replacing your truck until you have to. My 2 cents. Love the JD tractor.

if the new 4500's get 20mpg, that means they are getting better mileage than standard 1 ton pickups with the new diesels. theres no way thats possible. the lowest gear ratio you can get on them is like a 4.88 compared to say a 3.55, 3.73 or 4.10 in a 1 ton chassis. ya they are detuned a bit, say 300hp and 610lb ft from 350hp and 650lb ft, but thats just for engine and tranny longevity, more reliability, not for mileage.

Which truck does this? New? Used? Where did you get this data? I'm just saying, you might want to be very prepared to be very disappointed.

This is a copy and paste from allpar.

2008-2009 model year changes

As of the 2008 model year, the Ram 4500 and Ram 5500 have 23% better gas mileage than the Chevy Kodiak/GMC Topkick, and 14% better than the Ford F-550 Chassis Cab, with 20.2 mpg overall, according to the independent Transportation Research Center. The 3.92:1 axle ratio is now standard on diesels for better gas mileage.
