My main question to you is what kind of equiptment is it.

Here are some other questions that I would have before buying used equiptment....
How many hours are on it.
How has it been maintained?

These are some of the questions that I would have. As in theother post, you can get up pretty high in the amount that is spent on equiptment, even if yo are solo. Depending on what kind of equiptment( or toys, that is what my wife calls them) that you are looking to buy.

That would buy you 1 good walkbehind belt drive. You still need to buy a comm'l grade trimmer, blower, and a trailer to haul it. Very soon you'll need hedge trimmers, stick edger (maybe), backup trimmer, G/L insurance, biz license, truck insurance, etc.

I would say at a bare minimum $3000.

I just found a guy who will sell me his mowers and 13 lawns for 700 bucks. The lawns pay 175 a week and he has an old snapper and a two year old cub cadet and some kind of trimmer. I will go for it and get my foot in the door.
bummer is 3or 4 of the lanws only get mowed a couple times a month and 1 is once nonth.:blob3:

I don't normally comment on pricing because who am I to say what is a good price for your individual business, but $175.00 a week for 13 lawns doesn't sound good.

That's only $13.46 a lawn if I am figuring things right.

You will have to work 4 months to pay off those lawns, and that's if every one of those customers sticks with you.
The equipment you listed doesn't make the deal sound much better.

My opinion would be to find your own accounts that will be profitable to you.

Cheapcuts, I'm part time and have about 13 yards with 1-2 week cuts. I pull in 175 easy by just cutting 5 yards or less sometimes.

Your best bet would be to find a used belt drive walkbehind commercial exmark and then find a homeowners edition weedeater and get a good blower. Upgrade the weedeater as soon as possible. This is what i did and am on my third year. I have all commercial equip that I use and it's paid for.

A used belt drive exmark can easy go for 1200 or cheaper for a 36". great start, better than a snapper.

I can not stress this hard enough.. use the search button all the way at the top of the page. Search everything imaginable. I have started my own company this year and have learned loads of valuable informaiton here.. some I ignored and some that I took heed. I am paying the price for ignoring some advice. In some aspects this business is not as difficult as I thought, in other regards it is much harder than I ever thought. You do not go out and buy a bent shaft weedwacker and a 21" and hang a flyer and you have dough rolling in. DRIFT... Do it right the first time.

Good Luck. May the search Gods be on you side.
