Guys and Ladies I have doo doo coming from 27 more horses now.
They will have shavings mixed 18 besides the 27 have wheat straw mixed Total of 45 horses (Lotsa doo doo )We all know making good compost Is like baking a good cake I have a source of shavings from the wood working shop But...... What else should I be adding to this flow of Manure?.......I need Carbon to smoke out those weed seeds. I'm Interested on your thoughts of what I could be mixing with this Horse Doo Doo Thanks Daner In The Deep stuff

carbon does not smoke out weed seeds, add any brown(s) "low N", paper, dry straw grass,leaves ete

You probably have lots of straw up there right now after the winter wheat harvest, they normally use the corn left overs for silage but that would work too

I should have said that I need the carbon to add to the N for the heating process to smoke out the seeds
....Thanks for the replies guysBill...Yes we got straw around town....lotsa spoiled hay as well The new Manure I got with the mixed shavings Is really hot ,There was some scrap hay In there as well burnt black....I'm keeping a close eye open when i flip this stuff for fire |

good point.....Bill have you ever used the Inferred thermometers? (Point and Read Type)
I have one of those that I use...but I have to remember to keep It In the tractor Happy summer to yaa |
