Do you know how many Lawn Care Business Owners there are.....

Do you know how many Lawn Care Business Owners there are in your service area? Can you give a questimate although it may be hard if they are not all licensed?

Any ideas on how to find out how much competition you have in your area?

Here's another:
Pull out any of the Yellow Pages / Books and follow this:
1. Go to the Lawyers section, and astound yourself with the sheer size of this section.
> At least around my neck of the woods, Lawyers takes one of the biggest chunks in the book, if not the largest then one of them.
2. Next, go to the section RIGHT before Lawyers, which is Lawn Care, amaze yourself all over again at the sheer size of THAT!
> And no it probably will not be near as big as Lawyers but watch out Lawn Care ain't no joke either.

Ditto without the swearing. Put your blinders on and do your work well. Its your own business, who really cares about competitors out there - whats neat about is you don't have to deal with those people at all.

There are about 1-2 dozen in our small town of 10,000 people and the surrounding area.

I agree with DA Quality Lawn, "who really cares about competitors out there." It doesn't matter to me because I am one of the very few in my area who is dead serious about doing a top quality job and nothing less in every single service I offer. To prove it, my business has gone from practically nothing to absolutely booming in 3 years with no advertising other than WORD OF MOUTH!!!

So my advice from my long experience is stop spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on advertising and concentrate on quality, the BEST advertisement out there!!!

A population of 60K-70K licensed are about 350-450 but turning in several per week that's not licensed.
