Rebuilt lawn tractor transmissions.

I want to find out if there are any companies out there rebuilding lawn equipment transmissions? I own a automotive trans business and was wondering if there would be a need for such a business?

Most dealers will rebuild trannys if its worth it. If its more than shifter keys or input bearings it is usually cheaper to remove and replace than it is to repair. You gotta realize that lawn and garden equipment does not have as expensive drive systems as vehicles.

Yeah, not only that, but...

Guy like myself, when a transmission breaks?
It takes an afternoon just to pull the old one out and re-install another.
How long it's going to take to rebuild, I won't even know that until I pull it apart.

Some things can be rebuilt without removing the transmission, this can be
determined by removing the cover, depends on the mower I suppose.
But I dare say one of the most common ones would be the Tecumseh peerless.

Either way once it gets to where I have to remove it, I pull it and drop another one in.
That way the mower is fixed!

Then later, when I get a chance I deal with the broken one.
But the parts can run $100'ish easy, it's going to take at least a few days to get those, too.
A whole new tranny's like $200.
So I guess you could say it's mostly because I like tinkering...
