Piranha and Redhawk Mowers
Well, i keep finding these on the internet, so I seacrched here and found only 2 threads about them...
Well, we arent shopping for a mower, but i was just wondering what you guys thought, and if anyone has or had one... (This is like my "Gizmow Mowers" thread) They are the exact same thing, but Redhawk is red, and Pirana is orange... And Redhawk makes hydros and a 32". And they have 1 year warranty... Heres what a company says about them... "REDHAWK & PIRANHA mowers have all of the great features found on other commercial mowers costing $3000 or more. They are an exact copy of the best selling professional models, using the same commercial components, many of which are made in the same factories. REDHAWK MOWERS are equipped with BRIGGS & STRATTON and KOHLER Engines. PIRANHA MOWERS are equipped with KAWASAKI Engines. Both brands are assembled in the same factory and are designed to cut grass 30 or more hours each week." Heres some prices...

They look like solid machines. I have never heard of them before. Are they as big of a company as scag, bobcat, etc.?? Are they like better where you have to buy from the manufacture?? I am goin to investigate these mowers more.

Ok, i dobut we would buy one, but i hust wanna see if anyone here has used one, and what people think..
I know they look like the old Exmarks, so maybe its true (that they are copies of commercial mowers). You be the judge.

These are basically Chinese mowers and go by many, many names. Black Rock, Snapper, Landscaper Supply, Buyers Gold and Landscaper Pro are a few more. There are other names but I can't remember them all. At one time or another all of these names have appeared on these mowers and some still do. The basic mowers are manufactured in China by one company and then sold to whoever wants to buy them. You buy the mower parts and then add your own engines, spindles, trannies and tires.
They aren't a duplicate of any mower any more than an Encore is a duplicate of an Exmark. There aren't but so many variations you can have from the basic walkbehind mower. |

I didn't look on the website, but...
1. Deck guage? 2. Deck deepness? 3. Hydro motors (brand, etc) 4. Tire size? 5. How hard are the pistol grips to control? 6. Max speed? 7. Ability to use a sulkey? 8. Ease of service? All these are questions to ask before making a purchase. I know you said you probably won't, but just throwing that out there.

The only problem I see with buying these types of off market Chinese mowers is "Who will service and warranty the work and parts."?
I don't believe in the Trojan Horse Theory when it comes to the things that make us our living. If a person is dabbling in the lawn services these could be the mower for them, but highly not likely worth investing some heavy money into a race horse with a wooden leg. My neighbor has an acre lawn as I do, he watches me mow with my Walker ZTR. He doesn't want the expense of these 13,000.00 rigs, so he went and invested in a JD EZ TRAC from Lowe's. Within a week, he has already taken it back..............faulty clutch and broken spindle............! The things have Briggs engines on them.??? Just my take on some of the equipment choices to be made for hard work and sometimes taller grasses.
