Which Blades for the ACCELERATOR

I have just purchased an Accelerator for my Fastrack 44". On the web sit it tells you to use a High lift Blade on the discharge side of the mower only. Why can't I use all High lift blades, and if not what should I use with the high lift blade. There will be times when I want use the Bagger, or I may at time run with just the mulching plug in.

You can use all high lifts if you like. Each high lift draws about 1 extra HP from the engine to drive it though. You can test each configuration to find out what is best for your mower. If you have plenty of extra power with your machine, it is not going to be an issue. The only other consideration is front end blow out of clippings. With a high lift only at the discharge, the clippings are "sucked" across rather than pushed from the other 2 blades, minimizing droped clippings and stray clippings coming out the front of the deck. Each mower has it's own charateristics though, so your results may vary.

I have been using three high lift blades on my walk-behind, but the bagger packs a lot better when I use high lifts on bottom and Gators on top.

Peter is right about the blowout and what works best on any given deck.

I may try Gator blades on the left and center spindle with a Gator and high lift on the discharge.

Peter - Reviving this old post to pose another related question. Using a 48" Hustler FasTrak SD, what do you think of using a flat blade on the right, a Gator blade in center, and a high lift at the discharge side. The first one will do a plain cut, the gator will partially lift and re-cut, and the last one will lift, suck and push the clippings out - your thoughts. Thanks.

We recommend this type of "staggered blade" setup. It should also help reduce blow out. Results vary from mower to mower of course. There is really no substitute for simply trying out the different configurations and checking the results. Let us know what you find out!

What I ran on my 737 was 2 gators and 1 high lift. The high lift on the right side and the 2 gators on the other spindles. The 2 gators tend to chew of the leaves better and the one high lift on the right helps throw it to the back of the accelerator.

Mowed with the Accelerator grass catcher for the first time, it worked great, just a bit heavy for this Oldfella. The gator blades did an excellent job packing the clippings in the bagger, without front blow out - actually, I see no need to stagger the various types of blades; no need to install a high-lift at the catcher side for good push-&-pack effect. I recommend this catcher for younger, stronger folks (younger than 91). What I did do, and recommend - to prevent hitting objects with the catcher and lessen the cutting time, is making couple of pases around the property blowing the clipings to the inside of the property - this will also give you mower turning radius space. Have fun, I do.

Does Accelerator Industries have a recommended blade type setup for handling leaves? Any feedback on whether the increased leaf shredding of gator types would result in too-low suction effect vs high lifts?

Also is there an MSRP for the various units (thinking XL) and leaf extension?

Leaves, especially when dry, move easily. I don't think there would be any problem using gator blades, unless the mower you are using is very weak. I don't think Hustler has a problem with underpowering their mowers.
