line locator/fault finder

on locators and fault finders-I have tired of renting the old ones at the supply store and am considering buying one. what is the best? I have seen ones on ebay that promise to find depth of wires, measure/locate faults from either end of the wire to the inch, etc.

which ones, namebrands and the like have you guys used and like? Dave g

We have (2) 521's.......very trustworthy and reliable.....I have been using a 521 since 1986.....they haven't changed a bit. Not too expensive here though......depends on how much you will use it. I actually bought my last one used at a supply house for $300

Ask your supply houses and rental yards to sell you a used one....they almost never break
