Losing water

What is an effective way to find where the water is leaking? I've rented a 2500 gph pump and went from the pond to the first level and the water level stayed the same, did this on each level and nothing changed, so I thought it must be at the outflow from the falls. I re-did all the foam etc and it's still losing water.

Is there something you have found over the course of time to trace the leak?

It;s driving me absolutely bonkers!!!!!!!

How muck is it losing and how quick? i just repaired a little pondless fall that we did a couple of weeks back. the dirt had settled and the foam caused the water to back up and run out the side. I would check all sides good and around the bio falls if you got one.

Check your edges again and maybe try a different set of eye's, maybe they'll see something your missing. Let's see some pics of your falls. Don't get discouraged it happens to the best of us trust me.

You stated that you rented a 2500 gph pump. This is surely smaller than the pump that you have installed on the feature, isn't it? If so, it will not reveal where the leak is because of the lower water flow. The rate of water loss is a good indication of the size leak. If you are losing a considerable amount of water in a 24 hour time, you will definitely have a WET SPOT somewhere around the perimeter of the pond or stream.
Another possibility, if you are using a biofalls unit, is that the liner is not completely sealed to the face of the unit.

getting a second set of eyes to look at the fall could help, i agree with that. Get some more pics of the pond too.

I believe I've finally found the source of the water loss. It took a 71 year old man to look for it. I guess I kept looking and looking, but couldn't see the forest for the trees.

I've made a repair and adjustment of the liner so tomorrow I will turn on the pump and cross every finger I have.

Why do rocks get heavier today than they were yesterday, and even heavier than they were last week?

I've now found and repaired all the obvious leaks and I'm still losing just over 1/4" in 24 hours. It's getting very frustrating !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm really sorry to hear that. That is the main reason I'm reluctant to build them for profit. On a positive note...It looks much better from where you had initially started!
