Hello,
A 36 grit wheel is more coarse, and will take a bigger bite out of the mower blade leaving a rougher cut - and will break apart a bit faster because of it being more coarse. We use 46 grit "I" hardness - dimensions 7 x 1 x 1-1/4" Our wheels, and this type of wheel will not fit in a normal grinder because of the arbor hole size - they are made for SURFACE GRINDERS --- NOT --- bench grinders. The grinding wheel alone is not the only factor that allows our sharpeners to sharpen so quickly. See this info http://www.magna-matic.com/sharpener...ifference.html Thank you,

another point for Dobehap to consider is that Magna-Matics wheel being softer sheads the heat from the blade. The other wheel rated fot for the high RPM may or may not have this quality.

Blade grinders
I used a magna-matic 8000 for a few weeks and it doesn't even compare to the old fireball 300-C I have been useing at work for 10yrs.
