I've got a question to toss around in here. What do you all use for a time figure for placing bark mulch? I'm not looking for dollars, we all have our own hourly rate. I just want to compare what we use for a time factor when bidding to place a cu/yd of mulch. No removal of old, no edging, nothing but moving a yard of material from the truck, or a pile in the driveway to its resting place under/around shrubs, plants, trees, etc. I find that I'm coming in at right around .8 man hours to move/place it on an average site where you can plan on wheeling it around the house in a big wheelbarrow. How does that shape up with the rest of you?

That sounds about right for residential work. Just to make the figuring easier, we round up to one man-hour per cu. yard and then add extra if the accessibility is poor.
We use double-shredded hardwood mulch which may take a little longer to spread, as well.
----------
Lanelle
