Haven't been able to go in a long time. We just moved out onto 10 acres and on the back of the property is a small pond that is connected to the neighbors' lager pond.
I made my way back there on 1/11/11 and caught a couple Brim (Bluegill) and some dink Specks (Crappie) and one keeper Speck. I want to go out there now but it is 44 out a little to nippy for me lol. |

If you think that is a big crappie you should go to Canada, people catch 13" crappie daily, still a nice fish. Any bass in the pond?

You should find a reason to go to Canada. Lake of the Woods has excellent crappie, perch, bass, northern pike, muskie, and walleye fishing. It is so much fun!

Nice Crappie Gregg!! We are going to go after some White Bass soon, they are about that size and a blast to catch on ultra light tackle. I think there are some pics somewhere in this thread of a trip we took last year.
I went out for a couple of hours this afternoon, it was SLOOOOOOOW. Only two hits the whole time. ![]() Oh well, the weather has been nasty here for about a week and doesn't look to get much better for a while. So, I was just glad to get on the water for a bit. One Red 26" and one Trout just under 20".

We fish both fresh and salt. We actually bought a piece of an island off Port O Connor last spring. This spring we will be building out little shanty to fish from. Our place is right at bay side of the jetti. We can walk out our door and take 10 steps to the water. Its great!

I went out again today for a bit. Fishing was slow, one Trout 18" and 3 Reds 18" to just under 20". Every time I go to this spot I'm sickened by all the trash that people leave on the ground around the launch. ![]() Yesterday I opened the truck door and there were two dirty diapers along with all the other trash. ![]() ![]() I took a few pics and decided I was going to start bringing some garbage and disposable gloves with me. That's what I did today, spent a few minutes before I launched and filled a bag FULL of trash. I'm planning to do the same thing on the next several trips.
