Or maybe $ 746 agency priced. Add a little sales tax and yes $ 800 a gallon. I think we are going to be seeing higher prices than we expect this next year. Our cost per thousand might not increase drastically but cost of inventory will.

Its Tenacity, made by Syngenta. I do not know how they expect to sell much of their good product. At almost $800 a gallon and the smallest unit sold being a gallon that is crazy. Not to mention normal usage rates are 4 oz per acre.

Karl

The reason is it still has an Ag label and a Gallon covers over 40 acres. Do the quick math and it cost $ 0.50 a thousand to kill Crab Grass. Do you have 40 acres of solid Crab Grass to control???

But it also turns St Augustine White.

I've been trying to follow this one to see what the mix is for killing the Bermuda in St. Augustine... is it Celcius or Tenacity? Or was the mixture ever given? We have a ton of wild Bermuda coming back into lawns up here and this mix looks like it's giving good results.

Not really a big secret. Ifas had it on there website several years ago. Then one product came off market making Bermuda control no longer viable for several years. Finally two different products came on market that when mixed together were the same AI as the one taken off market because of economic reasons of not selling.

One problem with this Mixture, Chemical cost alone is $ 13.00 a thousand per treatment. This is still a lot cheaper than Sod replacement. However in many areas where Bermuda has taken over St Augustine, after treatment Sod replacement is necessary. The pragmatic thing to do in those areas is to non selectively kill and re-sod. In areas where Bermuda has a slight start, the cost of treatment becomes a Hard sell in this economy. Not every homeowner looks for a Mono-stand Turf, Only that it is green and has no broad leaf weeds. It is possible to sell jobs at a high price and still lose money because of the high price of inventorying the chemicals to start with.

Fact is while we were crying about our 100 year freeze the rest of the northern hemisphere experienced much worst weather, not only in North America but Europe and parts of Asia. St Augustine is not a cold hardy turf. But I believe as soon as the ground temperature comes back up, it with spring back to life. This is why I use a lot of Potassium in my fertilizer program.

Not a whole lot we can do in the way of Weed control right now. Bermuda is dormant and won't up take Herbicide right now.
