New wheels
Hey guys, I was looking for some new summer rims on my truck, I was thinking of going with 17" maybe 18" instead of the 16". would 18" be too big on the truck with no lift or leveling kit? I was looking at the following:

its not the wheel size! its the backspacing and tire size you have to worry about

Like Kajun said, you need to be more concerned with backspacing. When you see trucks or cars with wheels that stick way out, they went with too little backspacing. Or you will start rubbing stuff if you get the wrong backspacing. Your truck will be pretty easy to find out the stock backspacing on and just stay as close as possible to stock. A little less backspacing does give the truck a more agressive stance but just dont go too little. I'd find a forum for your kinda truck and look on there. There will be a sticky for what wheels will fit your truck and thats the easiest way to get some more options.

Any decent tire place will set you up with the right wheel offset for your truck. Like others said wheel diam. doesnt rly matter. They are putting 30" wheels under your truck these days with little or no mods.

The bigger the rim less rubber equals stiiff ride.
Personally I would stick with 16 inch rubber it is easy to find and cheaper. The reason why manufactures went with 17-18-19 wheels is to fit bigger brakes on these trucks. You can't fit big brakes into a 16 inch wheel. Now if you get into 17.5 and 19.5 tires that is for load carrying capacity. A 17.5 tire will carry more weight it is a light commercial tire. |

Maybe you should get those rims with the back-spacing that makes the wheels stick out real far, like all the lowrider trucks have, LOL!!! And why not go with the 28" wheels and tires?!!! They are only around $30,000 for a set! Just kidding, Before you decide on huge rims, think about when you have a flat and have to buy a new tire, Once you get over 18", the tires get pretty pricey,as I found out this past fall on my Dodge with 20" wheels and tires!! One new tire cost about $180.!! I would go with a 16 or 17" common wheel and tire combo, unless you are wanting to go big?
