Bad idea. The local police consider it littering. I hate picking these things up from my customer's property. Actually, I had one customer come out and show it to me. It was a large company's ad. My customer told me that he was really unimpressed with that form of advertising and thought it was very tacky. Just my 2 cents worth.

thanks everyone for the advice. Im not new the the industry. Just an idea. As far as whoever it was that said anywhere on the mailbox is not ok, here in Ohio and i'm assuming in every other state, correct the mailbox and flag are illegal ( I've been fined, and had postcards removed ) the post is 100% legal. I have done direct mail, rsvp, flyers in bags, postcard with thumbtacks, yellow pages, local paper ads. I just thought maybe this might work much faster. We do about 60,000 postcards every spring so anything to make it faster i'm willing to explore. thanks to everyone who had good input. It would be much easier to do it by throwing bags on the driveway NOT WITH SAND, especially in neighborhoods where the mailboxes are on the house.

You could weigh it down with something good like a pack of flower seeds, might be less offensive but that starts to add up too.

Here's a perspective to consider: as a landscaper, you're saying that your business, for a cost, will beautify my property. You are starting on the wrong foot for sure if you come and litter as a form of advertising. It may work, but that aspect always seems backwards to me.

Yes, I know what your talking about. No, I would not do it because it seems unprofessional compared to other mediums. Yes, I think it is annoying as heck when I come home after a long day's work to find my driveway/lawn littered with plastic bags and rocks from every type of contractor almost everyday. Yes, I report these guys regularly because there are always new ones out there who do this practice all the time.

Don't do it. Unprofessional. I tried it early on and I got NO calls from it. NONE.
