Isn't an aluminum dump body $$$$$$?? I bet for the price to install a new aluminum body you could upgrade to a 550 of similar year and have all the payload you'll need. I mean an f350 chassis (new) is about 13,000gvwr where you can outfit an f550 to 19,500gvwr. That's potentially 6500lbs more payload minus the weight differences between the 350-550 chassis, if any. Biggest downside is any trailer over 6500gvwr and you're in CDL territory. If I could get my arse in gear and obtain my CDL I'd sell my 350 dually for a 550 dump..

But the aluminum body is a valid point.

at this point, whatever comes along I'll deal with. It seems like you either spend 6 grand and get a 20 year old roached out POS or you spend $30 grand for something thats almost brand new.....theres really nothing decent in the 10-20 grand range which is where I'm looking to be right now. Hell I am actually even considering going to another pickup with a dump insert just to have SOMETHING to fill that void until a good dump comes along.

Nick I looked into that red Chevy you said was at Basil....look closely and you can still read the same on the door...came from the other landscaper down the street from my shop...don;t want anything to do with that thing!

The aluminum body on my 1 ton was $2,900 more than the steel body yet half the weight. Don't get me wrong I don't think an aluminum body on a 1 ton is going to compete with a 550. Its just way more truck. All i'm saying is that it fills a void for me. Chevy 1 ton gvw is 13,300. I have trailers with 12k gvw. Combined im at 25,300 gvw Just under 26k. I can't go bigger truck without making everyone get a cdl. Any yahoo with a licence can drive 95% of the trucks in my lot. Atleast with the aluminum body on the 1 ton you actually get somewhat of a load.

you gotta look harder all my stuff has been 10-20k purchases to date and thats been anything from a 2003 GMC 2500HD one owner truck to a 2002 F450 & 2000 F450

Um no.

You can tow up to a 10k before you need the CDL towing it with the 550.
