Newest Addition

Newest addition to the company. Ended up spending a little more than wanted and went for a newer F550 for pulling around the CTL.

Very nice! Looking at a truck very smiliar to that, with a dumping flat bed. What did that set you back?

I ended up at 18500 on it. It's had 114900 miles (now almost 116000 after the drive back from OK), it's an XL, crank windows, plastic floors, bench seats, but it's 4x4 and it's not a 6.0 so I was happy with it. Got a brand new (although it had obviously been sitting on the yard for a while) CM bed with the gooseneck ball. It drove good back from OK, getting about 10 mpg pulling the wife's car back with us. I'm pretty happy, they are just hard to find in decent shape for a decent price. If you're looking for a truck, look into insurance. I found out before I bought it that since it's a class 5 truck, you have to carry commercial insurance. Also, if you put a 10K trailer behind it, you are over the limit and require a CDL. We are still working on that part....

want a tip for the cdl ****? buy a 14k trailer and derate it from the factory at 10k and put the ctl more toward the front of the trailer so 4k of the weight or so is on the truck. that way the trailer axles if put on a scale only have 10k on them and the truck only has like 16k on it and neither the truck nor trailer are overweight.

Or you guys could just bite the bullet and get a CDL. I am almost done with mine and its not that big of a hassle instead of trying to dodge DOT left and right or derate stuff. What good does derating a 14k trailer do if you bought it to hold that much? Nice looking truck though. I myself am looking for a reg cab 4x4 flatbed and am jealous!

We are biting the bullet and getting cdls. A 14k trailer is not enough trailer for that machine. Just the machine and implements weighs right around 14-15k plus trailer weight. Besides the truck is rated for 17900 so even with a 10k trailer I'm over 26k, thus needing a cdl. It isn't how much weight you have, it's how much you could have. The only time the amount of weight you have matters is on the scales.
