I'm in landscape maintenance and I'm doing my first walkway (happens to be at my own house). I went down with about 6" of 3/4- of crushed gravel, compacted at 2" layers. Then I went down with 2" of coarse stonedust, compacted that. (not sure that was right) Should I now screed 3/4" of fine stonedust, then the pavers. Thanks for any help.

Whoops, you don't compact the stone dust layer, and what the heck is 3/4" stone dust.
You are supposed to use sharp sand or fine stone dust ie 1/4- In any case that layer doesn't get compacted until after the bricks are laid on top. Your stone supplier should have a guide to installation in your area. Your base depth is dependent on use and soil conditions. Make sure your base is good and you have elliminated more than half your problems.

Hey Dfor, take a look at the discussion 'Patio Base'. There's a wealth of information there.
