do I need an MHIC license for remulching in Maryland
I've looked through the entire website for rules and regulations regarding the MHIC license in Maryland. I can't find any information about whether or not I need to be a licensed contractor in order to remulch an existing mulch bed.
I would like to know what I can do without a license and what I need a license to do -- i.e. remove dead plants, mulch, prune shrubs and trees, etc. Although I am insured, I am debating whether or not I need a license. The other problem is that I am just starting my business and in the state of Maryland you need 2 years of experience to even take the test or apply for the license. How do I go about doing this when I don't have the time to work under another company because I am starting my business now???? I already have a business contract for the upcoming season. Thank you for any insight you may be able to lend. |

As far as I know, you only need a MHIC license if you are putting in hardscapes, such as retaining walls, patios, sidewalks. You need MDA license to apply pesticides, anywhere, any-how. You now need a tree license to trim a tree over 20 or 25 feet (check this one out, not sure). You also need a firewood license to sell firewood. Next up will be a license to breathe!
