Kawasaki - no spark - whats wrong?
Have a 5 year old Kawa Fv420 (14hp, OHV). Doing a lawn today, it started to lose power, then just quit, like it was out of gas, but it wasn't. Went over it tonight, found that there is no spark. Checked ign switch and safety cutouts, not the problem. I'm afraid its in the engine. Book says its a transistorized magneto so should be trouble free. Coils maybe? Any tests I can do to get to the problem? Hate to take to the repair shop, they are so busy. In fact, this is my backup mower. My primary machine is already in the shop for spindle bearing.
Help! Grass is growing, and I'm out of mowers! |

sounds like your coil/module. the best thing to do is to get the service manual to your engine. go through the testing as written in the manual to find the problem. it will be money well spent on the manual.

:blob3: before you change the coil, change the ignitor, 9 out of 10 times its the ignitor, its about $50 and its a small "computer Chip" which is wired to the coil. tony

I think I am having the same problem with my Kawisaki 420V. I'll get the ignitor tomorrow and install it and will report back if that fixed it.
Hopefully "bumping" this old thread I found doing a search will answer someone else's question.
