What about an SUV?

Ok, has/does anyone use an SUV instead of a truck? I need a second family vehicle, so I was wondering what about gettinga chevy tahoe to use on the bis and for the family. I know it would be kinda hard to show what fuel was for the bis or not so I'm just not going to worry about that. Thanks Guys! I've learned alot.

im using a 94 toyota land cruiser - its a 6 cylinder, but an extremely heavy vehicle. it was previously the family car, but we took it over almost completely... we are using it till we can pick up a truck -disel f350 to be exact, but until then the only problem is the breaking, but with a break assisted trailer, i pull an 18footer which is about 2300 lbs empty. i dont know that a taho would do it however....the cruiser has a lot of power ,and once we get a truck, we are still going to use the LC for a 2nd rig - brush hauler, possibly 2nd mowing crew... also another pain is pitting out the interior, ours stinks of gas and we have had noumberous spills, and even throw a mower in the back once in a while depending on the space we have. its possible, but not reccomended

tucks will beat out suvs any day

Ok, I got quotes for a truck and a Tahoe. The Truck Either a 3500 dually GMC, or A K2500 HD, is around 44,000. My personal favorite truck, the sierra denalli, is the same price, but i would be so mad if i scratched that one! The trucks had the 6.6L deisel if that matters.Or (what the family needs) A Tahoe Z71 or Yukon denali, for around 46,000 but with, the 6 liter denali and 5300 Series for the tahoe. Thanks guys, I HATE BUYING CARS!

For taxes, as I understand it your best documentation is a daily log - not too hard to do, and well worth it. You can look at towing capacities for SUV's and I believe they will compare to a truck pretty good but you will have more expense as well as the cleanliness problem already addressed.

How about a 3/4 ton crew cab truck. They look good and will haul plenty. The interiors are very nice also.

sj, no disrespect to your 'Cruiser, its a fine rig, but a new Tahoe will pull rings around it. It comes with an up to 300hp V8 and tow ratings of over 8000 lbs. But I agree with you, given the choice I'll take an F350 crew cab diesel.
