Laser Z electrical problem - HELP wanted
I have a 2003 model Laser Z 60" with a 25hp Kohler.
Yesterday, after working on a leaf clean-up job for a while, I pulled the PTO switch out, but the clutch did not engage. I turned the mower off to investigate the issue. Not finding anything obvious, I went to start the mower and it would not start. I could jump the solenoid to start it, but nothing when I used the ignition switch.
So at this point, the clutch won't ingage and it will not start using the key switch.
Do these symptoms offer anything obvious I could look at to diagnose the problems?
I have not done much looking yet, but have checked fuses and and wiring connections. I have also verified the safety switches on the brakes, hand controls, and seat seem to be working as they should.
Thanks in advance for any ideas you may have!
John

My exmark did this several years ago. Would not start. I jumped it off the solenoid and got it to the dealer. He replaced the PTO and everything was fine. Hope your problem is that easy. I know carry an extra on the truck at all times.

If it were my mower I'd spring for replacing the keyed switch first,
from the sound of things that is a likely cause.
Now if that don't fix it you now have a spare switch, drop it off in your parts department.

Have your battery tested, the electric clutch pulls alot of amps and a dead cell in a battery will not let it engage sometimes...hope this helped.
