I have had 2 customers next to each other drop me because a guy was going to do if for half the price I was charging. I always did an excellent job on each property. I told the customer that his new guy might not be licensed and insured. He told me he didn't care about license and insurance and that he did a good job and was cheap.

I remember when you first started and how aggresive you were in getting business. You have professional equipment, these guys most likely don't so why worry. You know that their not making hardly anything. If their price is so enticing to buyers have some fun and match it. Put an add out and truly see if their bringing in volume. You will be done before they will. Word of advice, study your competition. Call them for estimates and other reasons. Learn from them. You will know if they are scrubs.

20-30 for around a acre, aint to bad when you have guys on here that can cut several acres a hour they say!!!
My Uncle mowed yards all his life while working at the Gypsum mines. Never could figure why he done it. I started with my Dad right before I took a retirement at the age of 48. Thats been 11 years ago. I enjoy doing it. Fully insured, run it as a business and pay taxes. And the ones that say they are Licensed to mow grass tell me where you got it.
I dont low ball, I dont pass out flyers. I just bid when the paper asks and when people ask me to.
What I am getting at I dont need 60.00 a hour to make a profit, or do I have a min of 35-40 just to unload.
Most people cant pay 60 which comes to 240 a month on average. Some people didnt think about what they done untill they get old and cant keep it up anymore. Now its a liability to them just getting their yard cut.
The ones that charge the big bucks watch what you say you may be the one with out work when your customers dont have the money to pay you or the lowballer.
Its a tuff and cruel world out there and its going to get worse.
