too wet for aeration?

I do not own my own aerator. So, I rent one this time of year. I know that a little moisture makes it easier to pull out the cores but can it be too wet? We have a pretty dry climate so I'm not really use to this problem. It rained ALL DAY today. It's going to be clear tomorrow so I'm hoping it will dry it up. I don't plan on starting until a little later in the day, anyway. I've got a sprinkler job to finish in the morning.

Long story short, will some of you guys from wet climates tell me if it will aerate alright or if I'll just be slinging mud everywhere?

Moist topsoil is what you want. Mud will just make a mess!

So, as long as it's not really springy underfoot then I'm good? Should be that way by 11:00 am when I plan to get started.
