I was on here yesturday, ........

Question, do any of you own a GMC truck. I have a few people in my area that only use GMC and I was thinking of maybe buying one.

2006 to 2010 GMC HD diesel or gas, long box.........

Are you happy with your gmc trucks is the question.

The boss bought a 09 GMC 2500HD crew cab about a year ago, and sold it last week. Crap mileage, electrical issues left and right, handled like crap, and the interior rattled so bad it sounded like he was carrying 50 lbs of loose tupperware in the backseat. They REALLY cheapened them down in the last couple of years.
90% of all machinery problems can be tied to the loose nut behind the wheel.

GMC's are the best riders in the HD market, laden down or not. I'd pick a 2011 6.0L gas when it comes out. For used, I'd still get the gas engine. I prefer my diesels in an inline design, if I want a V8, it'll be petrol all the way.

Still, you have to decide if the diesel is worth the price premium. Gas engines can last just as long if not longer when well maintained, cost less to operate (running synthetic oils) and for me, I couldn't live with myself if I had to start and stop a diesel every .6-2 miles between client residences. Short trips are a lot harder on diesel engines than gas. They also weigh more and are generally louder. If you plan on towing more than 9K, I'd get the diesel just for that, but less than that, gas engine will do you fine.

I'm loving my 2007. Its the SLT 2500HD with just over 36,000 miles on the 6.0L. Tows and hauls very well.

03 GMC, nice truck, has the 8.1 in it, I love it. Allison transmission is sweet!! The 2011 gas motor should be impressive.
