Hustler VS Exmark Vs Dixie

i am just starting out and i have a 2008 hustler z 60 deck and for the lawns i am doing it great for some but to big for others. I am doing some 1 acre and then some small single fam homes in south Florida and the smaller yards have a lot of change in them so its either leaves a few grass blades behind or it scalps. need ur help on whether to go to a 48 Z4 Hustler that being a shorter deck but would i be lacking in the guts and beefier machine or step up to the Hustler 54 super Z which has bigger pumps and the whole bit but it being only 6 inches smaller than the mower i am trying to get rid of not a big enough decrease in deck. Or do i go with the "new Exmark" with there new pump system and the whole bite it would be a 48 or 52 lazer Z or do i go dixie classic 50 .... all said and done i am leaning toward the 48 Z4 hustler but don't want to be throwing money away. it was late last night. It would be great to hear some insight from the experienced veterans out there since i a new to the whole trade. thanks again

If it was me... I would keep the 08' hustler just in case you come across some larger properties and go get a walk behind. Use the walk behind on the small yards and keep your nice rider for the bigger ones. It's worth it to have large mowers to get stuff cut quick...

I have a 36 wb as for zero turn i would like to get a smaller deck to get a little smother and cleaner cut. what do u think of a smaller deck 54, 52 or would a 48 be to small and if so Hustler vs Exmark or Dixie as far quality in pumps and transmission and all around machine and cut. Because on the bigger yards they also have a few humps that scalps a little bit or a few blades left behind. thanks for your input. let me know what you think about the whole deck size and brand from your experiences would also be great

yeah thats what i am looking for to get the big yards done quick. buyt i dont want to trade quickness for quality. I figured if i got a smaller deck mower it would come out cleaner and more even. just another part of my thought thanks again. - Florida Boy

I would get a Dixie Chopper 2750HP It has a 27 horse Generac Engine it has big wheel motors, Spinger front forks for a better ride,and a deluxe seat. It will cut 5.25 acres an hour for your bigger jobs and is small enough for your little jobs. I think you will be very happy with this mower it mows and strips very nice and is fast enough to get the job done FAST! Hope this helps Good luck

You should be able to get a 60" to cut really well... Try adjusting the deck pitch and make sure it is level side to side etc. Definitely keep the blades sharp and the deck cleaned out. I wouldn't get anything smaller than a 60 though. I run a 48 hydro walk behind, a 60 dixie, and two 72 dixies. I have a 36 but I'm probably going to sell it cuz it never gets used anymore... It seems too much like a toy mower after you get off a 72.

I'm the same way the smallest deck I have is a 60" on a ztr and works great for me.

thanks for all your comments but what i am trying to get direction from is why should i go with a dixie over a hustler or why a hustler over an exmark and visa-versa? ie Guts and components/performance quality

Well maybe the best thing for you to do is demo each one of these mowers to find out what you like.
