this seems to be the best 60 inch ztr deal i can find.

I have been looking at new mowers, i wish i could afford a turf tiger, and i really like the xmark lazer z in a 60inch, but about 10k out the door. So i go by a toro dealership and see the 500 series. 12 gallon tank, 10mph, 27 kohler, and a sale price of 7200.00? Now i have never owned a ztr, and the only one i have used is my uncles turf tiger "which is a 61 with the 27horse kohler". Does anyone out there know of a better deal than the toro? Does anyone have a 500 series. here is a link. would love to hear your opinions.

Is their a huge drop in quality from the master series to the 500 series?

P.S. , I know nothing of gravely, great dane, and bobcat. You just dont see them down here in florida. My ears are open to all suggestions though. Maybe except for badboy, the fanatics have turned me off to them by hyjacking every post i have read on this forum where a lawnmower was mentioned.

here is a link to the toro 500 series. you can click on specifications for the specifics. I appreciate the wealth of knowledge on this forum.

John Deere 910A Commercial mower with 54" cut is 7150 if you call the right dealer. they say the decks are all about 200-300$ apart from each other so i would say the 60" would be around 7400. again if you call the right dealer. i called about 22 dealers the other day and got a different price at each one. the highest was around $9300 for 910 and the lowest was the 7150. so you just have to shop a little.

I have the Toro 441 (similar to the 500) 52" with the kawi motor and turbo force deck and i love it. That is a decent price for that mower

i would be using it for commercial use. mostly larger yards. I am pretty positive that would be considered a commercial mower right? I like the fact that it has the 27 kohler on it. I know they will go for a long time.

I like everything about the 500 series except for the narrow width between the control levers. If you sit on the G3 and then compare them to the 500, you'll notice the width difference right away. The G3 has plenty of room but the 500's levers are right next to my legs. When I moved my feet out toward the platform corners, they rubbed against my legs. We looked at swapping the levers to gain a few inches but a bolt on the right side won't let you. I called Toro to see if they had optional levers that were bent differently but she said no. She then proceeded to warn me about voiding the warranty if I did it myself. To me, that was the deal breaker.

This morning, they reduced my cost for the G3 with a 60" deck and 27 hp Kohler down to $8599. That's actually the same price they first quoted me for the 500. He can have a new G3 delivered in a week so I think I'm putting a deposit down on Monday.

the one i was looking at "toro 500 with 27 horse kohler" had a price tag of 7499.00, i am guessing it was a last years model. Nice looking mower, it did not have the turbo "or whatever the name is" deck. What are you losing out on by not getting the g3, i am hoping to buy a mower for around 7500.00 and want to get the most for my money. Been reading some good stuff about snapper also.

Funny you brought this up.

I'm a die hard exmark user. " owner" 52" 60", however were putting togather another crew this year and am seriously looking at toro. " it;s a price thing for me"
as you know toro owns exmark and other than bells and whistles I dont see much diffreance.
the post from above talking about leg room I can agree with ya there. sometimes were on the mowers for 2 to 3 hrs at once and it really gets too my legs anyway. "guess it's time for me to leave the field"
To sum it all up I proubley will go with the toro's.

16,000.00 is a pretty good little chunck of change.

Best of luck with your decission

Its a tried and true mower, I know the regular seats aren't very comfortable, the suspension seat would be the way to go. My toro dealer has 400 and 500's that have the G3 seat on them, just not the 3D isolation part. Much better over the regular seats.

Check out the bad boy 60" 30 kohler, stronger deck, same speed, bigger fuel tanks, deck lift, swing away, less money!
