Big Dreams Lawn and Landscapes.....From the start

Just really getting into the business last year and found this site a few weeks ago. I started last march and by August had 25 residential accounts. I am committed to around 30 so far this year and would like to grow. This is my starting set-up that I bought throughout the year last year. Being on 22 years old I would like to make this my career so I will be working hard to grow!

Nice camera! Good luck this year! What do ya do for marketing? How big are your accounts? I ask because you seem under powered with only a walk behind doing 30 lawns.

Thanks
Most of my marketing was word of mouth. I picked up the first 5 from craigslist then while I was out working most people either saw me working or someone told them about me. Most of my properties are around an 1/3acre but I do have 2 or three around an acre. And when you say underpowered? Its not to bad so far but I think this year if I get as big as I want to I will deff want more mower. I am looking at a couple different 60" mowers just trying to make a decision and see what the year is going to bring

Seeing you are running a Toro, I would look at Toroor Exmark ZTR. We run 2 Toro Diesel ZTR's with turbo force decks and they are amazing.

Yeah I like my Toro. It has treated me very well. I am looking at the Exmark zero turns and that is my favorite so far but the price is a little steep. I work at a Hardware store part time and we sell Snapper Pro and Wright Mowers so I can get a really good deal on them. But I keep leaning back to the exmark. The price is higher but you also get a high quality machine

Looks like a pretty nice setup. I'm also young and trying to make this my career so I feel ya there. I run exmark ztrs and they have treated me very well. Don't be scared to make the investment in one...they are very good machines. Good luck with the upcoming season.

Exmarks are great but not all that. If you can get a wright or snapper go for it, the price difference is much greater than the quaility of cut difference. I would look at the ZK or Stander X myself in the 52" range. I have a 60" ZTR and it is to much mower for most residental lots and my 52" WB is a great fit. For me if I had it to do over now I would like to have a 52" and 36" Exmark Vantage or Wright ZK's and run a Ford van with a 12' box on it and ramp gate similar to this http://www.superlawntrucks.com/the-slt-pro-12gl.aspx. I would also carry a little cheapo, 21"er just incase.
