A few questions, i'm from NJ...

• My trailer has a 2' steel railing around the bed, do mowers and equipment need to be tied down?
• If you have a two axle trailer equipped with brakes, are you required to have them in working order?
• Is there a maximum length (truck + trailer) that someone without a CDL can tow?

I'm reading things about the DOT, and want to be sure i'm 100% safe.

1.Why would you not tie down your mowers to begin with? and don't ask if you can use fishing line or bailing twine, use good quality ratchet straps, at least 2 per machine

2. Why would you not keep brakes working? It's a safety system that the manufacturer deemed necessary in order stop the trailer.

no offense but if you have to ask these questions then you really need to read up on your local codes and maybe give the DOT a call and see what you need before you get on the open road and kill someone when your trailer doesn't stop and an unstrapped mower flies through their windshield
