Stihl trimmer - Low power and high fuel consumption

Does this sound like something a carb. rebuild would fix? Trimmer runs good in terms of trigger sensitivity, idling, etc. But when I full throttle it feel like about 50% power and it is using fuel like crazy. Any recommendations would be most appreciated.

First thing I would check is your muffler, make sure the exhaust screen is not clogged or that the muffler is not clogged. If that is not the case do you have fuel coming out of the exhaust while its running,is the plug getting soaked? If the exhaust is plugged you can clean it out or burn it off. if your getting excessive fuel from the carburetor you may have an issue that a rebuild will not correct. You could have loose or dislodged welch plugs, the high speed check valve may have gone south . But I really think your issue may be in the exhaust.

I am having the same problem with a husqvarna, but it has teeth broken off of the flywheel. Do you think that is the problem or the exhaust, if so whats the best cure?
