Question on fertilizer...

I'm a relative noob when it comes to lawncare, but I'm really into learning now that my wife and I own our first home.

I planted a blend of fescue grass last year and it taken pretty well. There are some patches where it's thin or bare though so about 2 weeks ago I applied a fertilizer / weed killer mix (kind that's in a bottle and you apply with your hose). Last night I aerated it with a manuel aerator and applied a generous dose of seed to overseed the area.

My question is what kind of fertilizer should I use since I have a blend of already established grass and brand new seed. I'm guessing a starter fertilizer, but will that give any significant nutrition to my established grass?

Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Have you had your soil tested so you know what your soil needs in terms of fertility?

Also might note that depending on what you herbicide you used, seeding may or may not be an option at this point.
