Hour Meter

I bought a hour meter from a local Hustler dealer for my 2010 sport with Honda motor, p/n 111167. I had to enlarge the opening in the instrument panel for it to fit. Also the instructions say there is two orange wires connected together, there was only one. I hooked it up with the single orange wire, everything seems to work. My question is it normal to have to enlarge the opening. Also is there any problem using the single orange wire. Sorry about the long post. Thank You in advance.

Was there another opening in the panel that was larger? I am pretty sure you dont have to enlarge the opening.
As to the wiring, I need to look into that part.

There is a hole on the side by the seat where you can put the hour meter without modification. When the hour meter is put here it is very difficult to see the hours unless you fold the seat forward. This is where my dealer mounted mine but I relocated it to the top panel. I did have to modify the opening to make it fit. Unfortunately I now have a hole where they originally installed it.

Ditto with my 2010 Sporto. I used a Dremmel to enlarge the opening and 15 minutes later we were up and running. Kinda kooky to install the hour meter between the seat and panel. I upgraded my seat so I have to loosed two bolts to get my seat to flip up so it is kind of a pain. Anyways, Hustler should consider relocating the factory location of the hour meter.....

hour meter

The opening I enlarged was the only opening on the panel. Making it fit was no real problem, only had to enlarge it about 1/8" on two sides. I figured I might of gotten a different model meter, if there are different models. My main concern was the wiring. Do not want any long term damage caused by wiring. Thanks Again

Panel

Are you putting the hour meter where the hole for the light switch is supposed to go?

hour meter

The panel only had one unused opening. Still looks good. Not sure if the opening was intended for the lights.
